Pitlochry Festival Theatre, on the banks of the river Tummel, is within easy walking   distance of the Lodge and is much more than just a theatre. There's an art gallery,  exhibitions, gift shop and restaurant offering lunches and pre-show dinner. Back stage tours can also be booked. Wheelchair users can access all facilities and there are facilities available for visitors who are visually impaired or with impaired hearing.

Pitlochry Dam and Fish Ladder is a short walk from the Festival Theatre where visitors can see the salmon climb the specially constructed ladder over the dam.

Cycling is a wonderful way to see the countryside surrounding Pitlochry and there are many cycle trails. Bikes can be hired from Escape Route, a few yards from the Lodge for half and full days and there are cards available mapping the cycle routes.

Fishing is available on the River Tummel with a permit, for full details of beats, prices and availability go to www.fishingnet.com/River_Tummel.htm

For those of you who would like to try fishing for the first time or would just like to brush up on your technique, lessons can be arranged with local fisherman, Alistair Gowans. Find out more about Ally and what he does, at www.letsflyfish.com

For visitors who enjoy walking, you will be spoilt for choice in Pitlochry. There are many clearly marked paths, whether you prefer a leisurely stroll through Tayforest Park by the banks of Loch Tummel, or a more challenging hike to the top of the local mountain Ben-y-Vrackie, (Speckled Mountain in Gaelic).

Visitors with an interest in history will find much to see in Pitlochry and surrounding areas. The Pass of Killiecrankie, Soldiers Leap and Queen's View, all steeped in history and in the middle of stunning scenery. In the nearby village of Moulin, crusaders graves can be seen in the churchyard and standing stones and hut circles can be seen on Moulin Moor.

Pitlochry has two distilleries, Edradour, the smallest distillery in Scotland, and Bell's Blair Atholl, both distilleries have visitors centres and tours available.
